Barnardsville, NC - Convoy of Hope joins Switch It Up Crew

Dana and I are blessed and honored to be serviing the community of Barnardsville with our Switch It Up family!

25 members of the Switch Crew are on the ground in Barnardsville, North Carolina—serving a community still recovering from the devastation of Hurricane Helene just over a year ago. Whole homes, bridges, and roads were swept away in the storm, leaving families with nothing but memories and the determination to rebuild.

We’ve set up our own Switch Crew Camp near the local fire station, coming alongside those still without permanent homes to help them prepare for the cold months ahead.

We’ve heard story after story of families standing helplessly as the rushing waters carried away their homes, belongings, and sense of normalcy. Many now live in small travel trailers, still paying mortgages on houses that no longer exist. The destruction is hard to put into words.

And yet, what we’ve found here is resilience. Courage. Kindness. Gratitude. These are some of the sweetest people you could ever meet; thankful for every bit of help offered. As fellow RVers, we’re installing skirting, insulating pipes and windows, and helping them learn how to live safely and warmly in their RVs this winter. For many, this is their first experience in an RV—now sitting on the very ground where their homes once stood.

We came to serve with helping hands and willing hearts, but the truth is, we’re the ones leaving blessed. To hear their stories, share their burdens, and be even a small part of their rebuilding journey has changed us all.

The work is not done! There is a fund to help provide propane for these families to stay warm through the coming harsh winter.  If you feel the desire please donate to:

https://convoyofhope.org/donate/disaster-relief/helene-propane/

These funds go directly to buying propane for this community!

It has been 14 months and these people feel forgotten, yet they are not angry. They are grateful and gracefilled! Help be the hands and feet of Jesus and spread human kindmess!
