Manistique, Michigan time to recharge a little!
Today we headed to a small town on the sothern shore of the upper penninsula! We discovered that we need to make sure we add some down days for cleaning, laundry and blogging! We were able to go see two wonderful sights in the area. First we went to Kitch-iti-kipi, a 45 foot spring fed lagoon that has crystal clear water! They have build a self propelling raft to cross over the lagoon with a glass bottom center so you can see the spring water flowing in and the incredible 4 foot fish and wildlife swimming around! Next we went to see a 100 foot bearded troll named Benny. A Danish artist has over 100 of these across the world for people to enjoy! That was fun to see! Our last day we took Duke to the beach and the Manistyque Light House where he was able to run around on the beach and chase birds! Now we will head to the northern shore of Wisconsin on Lake Superior to Ashland, Wisconsin!
Paradise, Michigan
We are boondocking at Dana's brothers house in Paradise! Rick and Melissa
are building a wonderful oasis in the woods just minutes from Lake Michigan! We explored Taquaminaw Falls and White Fish Point! We shared meals and played games! Walking through their 10 acres was wonderful! Duke LOVED exploring each day! Now we head to Manistique, Michigan!

Traverse City to Mackinac day 2-3

Day two in traverse we headed to Leelanau peninsula and the town of Leland, Sheri’s favorite town in Michigan. We stayed at the Hawkins Farm Cellars ( another Harvest Host ) and had Tai food and cider, the next day took the top off the Jeep to get the full experience spending the day with Duke in the water and shared some really good ice cream at Leland Mercantile Co, it’s worth the trip! The 3rd day we headed to Mackinac. Sheri checked Google maps and it said RV parking under the bridge to the left, pulled to the turn and saw our first bridge that the RV would not fit under, only 10’8” tall, the RV is 13’1”. We decided to try the parking lot through the archway , NOPE, lucky for us the lot was only half full and I was able to do a u turn and got lucky with a spot on the street 100 yards away. Parallel parking is not fun with 63 feet of RV and a jeep in tow! Absolutely the best view of the bridge from the fort. We enjoyed touring the Michilimacinac Fort with Duke! We are now on our way to the Paradise in the upper peninsula to see Rick and Mellissa and their new house!

Traverse City to Mackinac
We arrived in Traverse City today, gorgeous weather to enjoy the crystal blue waters and wineries. Day one, we drove up the Mission Peninsula, had to hit our favorite Chateau Chantelle, they have the best view on the Peninsula with 360 degree views of the bay. Picked up some late harvest riesling and a cherry brandy port that you have to try. Next stop was the mission point lighthouse. You can walk out a few hundred yards to enjoy the warm and crystal clear waters. Three more wineries including a new close second favorite, Brys winery, great food , cider and wonderful views.
